so through some searching i found a few tools to help on maximizing the land that you will have.

first link is a simple farm plot pattern that will show you how to effectively use all the land you have by placing everything in certain patterns according to the size of each item.

the second link is a efficiency chart that shows you how many logs you get from cutting down certain trees and the time needed to grow and what not. very informative.
