Help Me Build a New Computer!

So, I need to get a new computer. I like the physcial aspect of putting the computer together, but I have no real interest (or time) to put into researching and picking parts. Since I know some of you are super nerds, I figure I would ask for some opinions.

I currently have a Gigabyte Z68A, i3, 8Gigs DDR3, a 600W PS and a video card that's so embarrassing I'm not even going to tell you what it is.

I have $500-1000 to spend, but I'm cheap so I'd rather stick to the lower end and reuse what I can (probably just the RAM and hopefully the PS since it's newer than the rest). I'm not going to need hard drives or cd drives but I do want a new tower. I don't feel the need to have to run all my games on ultra settings, but I need something that gives me more than SIX FPS.

I've been doing a little bit of browsing on New Egg for the pre-built computers. They seem like they might be a better economical move, but I don't have experience with anything pre-built that isn't Dell.

Suggestions? Opinions? #SaveMeFromMyToaster

Just buy a new graphics card (either r9 390 or gtx 970) and you should be fine for a couple years. You didn't mention which i3 processor you have but in general i3 will struggle for gaming, you would want an i5 or i7 if you upgrade as they perform significantly higher then i3s in benchmarks.

Also, never buy pre built, especially a Dell, they usually come with shit power supplies and you might have problem upgrading in the future if you buy one.

And don't be intimidated of building a computer for yourself, its a lot like Lego, everything only goes in one way, you can't fuck it up, and if you want to double check something just read the manual. If you can plug in a headset, you can build a PC.
