Ok, So I was given a Beta Key for the Neverwinter Beta Weekend #3 this weekend. I ended up downloading the game and have been trying it out off/on since yesterday. I must say its rather impressive.
The game's graphics are dated some, but Cryptic kept the Style of Neverwinter Nights 2. Which I like, the voice acting is not bad, but nothing to great. The stories for the great are nice, some of them are really funny. The combat is simple, yet effective. Basic attack on LMB, Strong attack RMB. and then as you level you gain extra abilites to use on keys 1-3 and Q / E / R and Tab. Also there is a form of Skill Tree system. While not as in depth as POE or even GW2 it seems to fit.
This game will have the following Races on Release
Human
Tiefling
Dwarf(OH YEAH)
Wood Elf
Drow
Halfing
With more being releases in the future
The classes for the game are
Great Sword Fighter
Guardian Fighter
Thief
Control Wizard
Cleric
and I believe a Duak Wield Fighter(No in Beta Yet)
With more classes being releases over time.
Now that brings me to Player creation, Its Decent I was able to create a look I liked. But for all the Perfectionist out there is nothing to boast about. Once in the game I found myself enjoying the quests given and killing some of the classic DnD mobs off the bat. There's plenty of room for growth of the game, But what sets this above other's is the Foundry.
The Foundry is where player's can create content(Quest, Dungeons, Raids) and others player's can play. You make the layout of the area, the story line, the quest. The bosses. I have played some of the player content today and must say, HOLY SHIT!!!. I hope more games come out with this, alot of these were fun as hell. In this Beta alone there is about 100 different ones to choose from.
So in closing this game coming out is Free To Play, but as we know since it's Cryptic Studio/Perfect World there is a cash shop, If anyone is like me and a old School DnD player, this game might interest you. Take a look at it sometime.
