Project Natal

My new wet dream. Natal + no glasses required 3d screen. I have serious doubts as to whether the technology actually works ( fears were reduced by this article though ). If it does indeed work, the possibilites are endless. RTSes could easily be put on a console. Make voice recognition good enough and MMOs can easily be put onto the system (Imagine playing CoX and actually shooting fireballs from your hands or Warhammer and chopping through Order).

I am hella excited for this and think if it actualy works, Sony and Nintendo don't have *prayer*

Nice idea but no way in hell!!!

Remember how much of a pain EyeToy was? that was the main reason why sony left that market. Then you have nintendos motion controller that 90% of the time doesnt know left from right. Here we are talking about a fully face recognition/voice recognition motion recognition tool. I say Bull shit =o

Like the skateboard scene there is no way it could have seen behind the wheels what the picture looks like. Or the the buzzer that were so close together no system could have seen that. Also the video was above the level of optimal view there was no way for it to see some of the motions that were done in the other games shown. Everyone knows that visual motion needs certain basic colors to recognize and all the people had random colors on that the system would have seen as 2 or more people.

Actually, the military has already nearly perfected both AI and holographics.  Ie: They can make fullt three dimensional "people" that can react to you and hold a conversation on nearly anything.  Whatever it cannot converse on it can learn about in just the conversation with you.<div>
</div><div>I remember reading that the AI itself was tested in WoW where the AIs were playing right next to human players and the humans could not see a difference from other humans and the AIs (public WoW, not a test group).</div><div>
</div><div>The Holograms are soft-light.  This means that it's not "hard" like in Star Trek holodecks... yet.  But it can be made to show anything including a fully real  looking human or tank or w/e.</div><div>
</div><div>These alone were at some technology conference last autumn.  The main point of their exhibition though was the 3d projector (it can project a fully 3d form) and the computers behind the projector and the AIs.  This was/is quantum computers.  The basic gist is that the processors work on a sub-atomic scale and so one could fit a processor of a modern desktop into the size of a molecule.  Not only this massive size advantage but it could change the paths of processes by way of the quantum flux of the various sub-atomic particles themselves.  This creates a more than two outcome situation that limits current technology.  Also, very sophisticated.</div><div>
</div><div>This little x-box thingie?  Yeah, between things like what I just described and the mind-reading power suit that the Japs built this is a mere toy.  And totally possible.</div><div><span>
