Rise of the Godslayer

I just got an email from them ... "Hello! Blayze, your lvl 80 conqueror awaits!" He's gonna have to keep waiting. No way in hell am I touching that train wreck of an MMO again.

I didn't think AoC was any worse than any other MMO's I've played =/, except for maybe CoH/V, but that's only because I've found the right community.  I practically soloed with some exceptions to PuG's in AoC.

Practically? I DID solo all the way to 80 in AoC. Content was great up to that point, don't get me wrong.

Certain points that killed it for me:
•AoC required SO FUCKING MUCH from a computer in order to function and experience all the great graphical components. I had a typical computer, by typical I mean that it ran WAR with most graphical options maxed just fine, and in order to play AoC with more than 5 FPS, I had to turn everything off. OFF. As in, any potential cool visual effects... I didn't see them. I saw my guy swing a big ugly sword at some semi-pixelated douchefucks.
•End game content. Wait, what? People were supposed to make it to 80 and expect something to do? Yeah, no. Once I finally got up there, I dumped some trash guild I was in for some reason and joined the #1 on server. There was one instance that was runnable. One. I went in once, it was full of tight ass corridors and glitchy pulls. Also, back to my FPS here; Even with all of the settings down, I was having a field day with some wicked 5-10 FPS.

This is a shortened version of the bottled-up rage I had almost 2 years ago that I never really let out. It has greatly diminished since then, as I feel that my anger has been relinquished by the uber suckage that is AoC get flushed down the toilet by society. Also: EA is dumping all kinds of development studios and cutting back. What does this mean? Bye, Bye, Mythic!

<span style="color: #ff0000;">[Warning: elitist rant] <span style="color: #ffffff;">That</span></span>'s one thing you could always give Age of Conan credit for. It has a cool, unique style. All these studios pumping out Tolkien-esque RPGs with Elves, Orcs and bullshit don't have an ounce of creativity in them. At least AoC has intricate Nordic, Mediterranean, African and Oriental settings with culturally-believable armour. That's unique. It catches my eye.

Then there are games like Aion, World of Warcraft and Warhammer. These games aren't artistically creative. They all look the same, borrow from a familiar formula and visually, steal from every other game. What's the term for that? Oh yeah, popular culture. The same crap Harlequin romance novels and generic comic books fall under.

At least Age of Conan had originality. Too bad the technical team didn't have the same talent the design team did.<span style="color: #ff0000;">[/endrant]</span>

A lot of MMO's out there don't have much end-game contents...it's just farming for epic loots or do repeatable quests after hitting max level.  Look at CoH/V for example, for the first 2 years there were nothing to do at level 50...until they added the Auction House the 3rd year, yet we still played it pretty much daily.  If anything, I'd say the powers in CoH/V were fun and what kept me playing was the community, yes it includes under-aged teens if you're wondering. <div>
</div> <div>As for the AoC expansion, I doubt it's going to add enough contents to keep level 80's playing for long, unless it's something that has farm-able value.</div>
