Age of Conan

Bloody, gore-filled MMO goodness. There's no thread for it so I thought I'd make one. Apparently this is the first mainstream MMO to get a Mature rating thus far. It's being released on March 25th, for both the PC and Xbox live.

From what I understand there's a single player game as well as the main online multiplayer experience. I'm still holding out for WAR, but there's a lot of good things being said about AoC. So it might be worth giving it a shot

The game looks good if you were to judge from those videos alone. But from what I hear, it's about 80 days from release, and there's still an NDA on their beta, with no plans to have an open beta before the game is released.

Now, there could be several reasons why this is. Usually when there's no open beta before release, it means the developer has made a crappy MMO and doesn't want it to be tested by players prior to release. This usually happens when publishers rush titles (think Star Wars Galaxies or Vaguard: Saga of Heroes aka worst game ever made).

Like you Try, I'm hearing good things about the game when it comes out in tidbits. But I'm hesistant to go out and buy this until a week or two after release. There's just too little information out there. It would be a shame a game with such a cool concept would turn out to be crap just because the publisher pushed it out early though.

i applied to this game before war but didnt get into beta. it looks better because war is much the same way as wow and it doesnt do too many things different. aoc is different from other online games. it has blood, nudity, swearing and all that good stuff, and it looks original and has its own style. if i got into aoc beta i would rather be playing it than war&nbsp;

from look of things war will offer a loot of customisation and loot similar to wow but with focus on Realm vs Realm where as age of conan will be lot more about combat.&nbsp;

</div><p>UK, January 21, 2008 - Funcom today released a statement revealing that Age of Conan, its forthcoming MMO, is to be pushed back to May 20, in order to give the game a final buffing.

Gaute Godager, the games' producer and director, said: "Even though we regret delaying the launch, I am certain we made the right choice. I hope that our followers and fans will support our decision, and respect our commitment to quality."

Originally scheduled for March, the extended eight weeks will go towards ensuring the final product is water-tight once it goes online.

<p>Age of Conan sports a number of choices for the PvP player,everything from casual, instant fun minigames to massive siege battlesto an entire PvP server with friends to make and foes to kill.</p>

<p>Your PvP options include:

PvP Minigames
Ageof Conan’s PvP minigames are intended as “pick up and play” fun,something easy to get into solo or with a group of friends, a way tohop right into the action when you want something fast and furious,more akin to an FPS match than traditional MMO combat.

Age of Conan’s PvP minigames include:</p>

• <div>Capture the Skull
  Youwill join one of two teams with the goal of capturing the opposingside’s skull as many times as possible. They will, of course, not takekindly to this and will try to stop you.
  </div>
• <div>Team Annihilation
  Youwill join one of two teams, with the goal being to kill as many playerson the opposing team as you possibly can. Of course, they’ll be tryingto do the same to you.</div>

Massive PvP/Siege PvP
Headout to the Border Kingdom with your guild, or hire yourself out forpay, and wage epic battles for control of player-owned battlekeeps.There are a limited number of these battlekeeps on each server, meaningcombat will be fast and furious, and the benefits of owning one meanguilds will fight tooth and nail to keep theirs (or take away someoneelse’s!)

PvP Servers
Forthose who just can’t get enough PvP, Age of Conan features PvP-flaggedservers, with rules allowing widespread PvP, and PvP-RP servers, whichnot only allow for lots and lots of PvP, but also feature a robustruleset encouraging roleplaying and staying in-character.


Advancement
PvPalso has its own system of leveling and advancement, with dedicated PvPlevels, feats, and so forth, for those who do well or spend a lot oftime PvPing. This system will complement the regular advancementsystem, allowing you to further tune your character to your own tastes.


Drunken Brawling
Youwill proceed to one of the designated taverns, get drunk out of yourmind, and take wild, drunken swings at friends and foes alike.
