Building my own computer: help?

I'll spend $2,000 with monitor included.

Needs to have the best possible graphics card and video playing.. I plan on replacing my TV with this shit ha.

Obvi I want to keep it for about 5 years without it becoming outdated so what would you guys suggest? I have no idea what to do...

Basically I'd like suggestions on what to buy and where to buy it all.

Just a quick question, are you planning on doing anything other than say Games/Movies? Or do you need it for video rendering and streaming, and office utilities? Also, do you plan on reusing any parts from your existing PC, like HDD/SSD or Optical Drive (CD/DVD drive). Do you have need for a blu-ray drive since it'll be out by the TV?

Ok something just real quick. This uses kind of a large case, but if you don't care about that then w/e. I've got a solid monitor in there but, something I've been eyeing myself is the same monitor with the G-sync board attached, pretty much what that does is sync the monitor refresh rate to the gpu vs the standard refresh of the monitor which should eliminate screen tarring without the need for v-sync which will lower fps. But that version of the monitor is $500, which should still be in the budget for this build.

But that's blowing almost half your budget and sounds like you want a nice monitor, too. In that case, the best card for price/performance is going to be this:

The extra 2 GB of memory is nice for modern games that utilize it a lot more and EVGA has the highest memory overclocks right now.

You should not ever get the "best" anything. It's a waste of money and probably for an unnoticeable amount of performance.
