</font>
The following is a tutorial to help you customize the look of your posts on our forum. With the addition of avatars and signatures (or signature banners), you'll be able to help our site look more dynamic and allow other Vindictive members to recognize you more easily.

</font>
<font size="4" color="#ffff00">STEP 1: Creating Your Avatar.</font>
<font size="2">
Creating an avatar is simple.

Begin by taking a screen shot of your character in game. Press </font><font size="2" color="#00ffff"><Print Screen></font><font size="2"> on your keyboard to do this. Find any pictures taken in your </font><font size="2" color="#00ffff"><City of Heroes/Villains></font><font size="2"> folder on your computer by going to the </font><font size="2" color="#00ffff"><screenshots folder>.</font><font size="2">

Once you have your picture, resize it to a size that will fit nicely into all your posts and not distort the size of the thread. An optimal size is 110x110.

Here is an example:</font>

Nightmare.jpg

<font size="2">Use basic photo editing programs like </font><font size="2" color="#ff0000">Microsoft Office Picture Manager</font><font size="2">, or a free photo editing program like Photo Plus. (Which I used to create my banner).

Once you have your avatar ready, go to your character settings on the site. You can access that by clicking here.

Now, you can upload your avatar, or, you can link it from a file hosting service like photobucket. For more on photobucket and hosting and linking pictures, check out Ruthless Babe's helpful post here.

Once you link your picture, hit </font><font size="2" color="#00ffff"><Save Preferences></font><font size="2"> at the bottom of the page, and you're done! Now you should have an avatar that will help add personality to each of your individual posts.</font>

<font size="4" color="#ffff00">Step 2: Creating a Signature.</font>
<font size="2">
Signatures can be a little more easy. To create a basic signature, simply start by entering your character settings on Guildportal as you did before. In case you forgot how, click here.

Now instead of linking an image, use the word document box next to the tab </font><font size="2" color="#00ffff"><Default Signature></font><font size="2"> to simply add some information about your in game characters in CoV or WoW.

Here is an example of a basic signature:</font>

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<font size="2"><span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0); font-weight: bold;">Destruction:</span></font>
<font size="2">
Tryden (Level 40 - Alchemy/Dark Rites - Zealot)
Nightmare Syndrome (Level 40 - Path of Retaliation - Chosen)
Stormseige (Level 40 - Path of Gork - Shaman)

<span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="color: rgb(0, 255, 255);">Order:

</span></span>Brayken (Level 40 - Path of Grace - Warrior Priest)

</font><font size="4" color="#ffff00">Step 3: Creating a Banner Signature.</font>
<font size="2">
Or, you could link an image to use as your banner. However, keep in mind that many users of these forums tend to read them while they're at work. So please take care not to use animations, link videos, or have overly large banners in your display. As long as they don't distort the forums, then you're okay. 600x250, or 300x100 are optimal sizes for banners.

Example (600x250):
</font>
Nightmarebannerfinal11.jpg

<font size="2"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="color: rgb(0, 255, 255);">
</span></span>And that's it. Now you'll have a custom look to each one of your posts. Feel free to tailor yours to your own style, though keep in mind not too make them overly offensive.</font>

the point of me being "The Drifter" is that no one knows what i look like...until right before they die.Plus i couldn't find a cool enough avatar if i tried.

Bumping this. Create avatars people, looking at 3 people posting without avatars one after each other is confusing. So read this guide and get cracking.

Bump, for anyone who still doesn't have an avatar or a signature. Here's a guide to help you make them
