Darkfall: Unholy War

So I saw today that this game has been approved on Steam Greenlight. It says it is a sandbox PvP MMO. This is the first I have heard of it, has anyone else read anything or tried it?

I played the original Darkfall back in 2009. It was actually something I tried out on the side while Vindictive in Warhammer was FALLING APART.

Anyway, that game was the worst thing ever. I mean, the concept was sweet, but it was put together by an indie Greek dev team that was led by a psychopath. The product really reflected this.

If anyone checks this out, I would be curious to see what it looks like on release day. The original Darkfall had its release botched as shit. The devs delayed the launch at the last minute by 12 hours. When it finally did launch, the game was buggy as hell and so then they had to take it down again a few hours later. Eventually, it didn't actually launch till the next day. :/
 
It was released on April 16th, and from what I have read, it did not go well. It is $40 with a sub fee of $15/month. If I try it out I will let you all know, but for now I think my money is best spent elsewhere.

I played the original Darkfall and loved it. Like Tryden, anyone who was there on day one and went through the bullshit of launch probably got turned off pretty quickly. But I picked it up a few months after launch when some of the gamebreaking stuff was fixed. It was honestly one of the most unique gaming experiences out there. Rough around the edges, sure, but you really saw how mindless themepark MMOs are in comparison.

I did buy DFUW. It's a more polished version of what's basically the same game, but IMO it loses some of the original's charms. If you've never played Darkfall before, I recommend buying it. Especially if you like sandbox PVP. My only piece of advice is get into a big guild. You need protection in this game. It's impossible to lone wolf it.

I have read several reviews and over all the game seems to get a 7-8 out of 10. I have a few people from my work who play it. They  love it. If any Vindictive members decide to play, let me know if there is enough people I might join ya
