Guild farms rules

I have been discussing the utility of the farms and have decided on a few rules to help the guild better utilized the guild farms and make it more fair for everyone.

Trees- I know trees are an expensive commodity and hard to come by but at the same time having limited public farm lands to hogged by long growth time trees seems unfair. I would like to restrict guild farms to only grow yew trees from now on. Yews only take 4 hours to grow and give the farm plots a chance to cycle between players hands more often.

Fruiting trees- This is less of a nuisance but can still cause the same issues as long growth time trees. A lot of the times these trees are left unpicked(wasted) or suffer the same "hogging the real estate" issue. To be fair it is best to disallow the growth of fruited trees on guild properties.

Alternatives for growing these things include: public tree farm in White Arden, Illegal/secret farming, or even making a private plot family and being in the family.

This is open to discussion and would like feed back. I wont implement the rules until i know the guild has read it and everyone agrees with it. If not we can revert to the way things are if most of our crafters are not bothered by it.

Please issue some feed back so i can get a better understanding on peoples stances on the matter.

I've been using the shit out of the extra space on both Rumble and Paradrox's farms, so I'm probably the primary guilty party here. The only reason I started using their plots for trees was that no one else seemed to be using them. There have been a few times that Gabe and I have swapped things back and forth to clear up the space and one time Avis harvested my flowers to plant some mushrooms. Outside of that I've never seen anyone else use them, and I've left them open for quite a while when I was too lazy to plant more stuff. If people without farms are trying to use the space, I'm more than happy to give it up. But if no one else is going to be using it, I feel that it's more of a waste to leave it unused than to utilize it for longer growing items.

I'm assuming these rules would not apply to the owner of the farm? If someone is opening their farm for the guild to use the empty spaces on, they should still get the priority to grow whatever they want on their farm.

I agree with that last sentence in particular. I would hope that the rule don't apply to the owner since, though they are opening their farm up to the guild for usage, they still need to pursue their own endeavors. (also how many logs do yew yield compared to traveler?) I've been sharing with kaidious and soon necro and we have been fairly on top of harvest and replant leaving then unharvested or unplanted when we get forcibly dcd or have to wait in queue. unless the yew yield an amount of logs that are in comparison the same to travelers trees I don't see a point in limiting people to yew. (ie. yew 4 hours to grow yield say 3 logs, travelers take 12 hours to grow yield say 9 logs)

Traveler's grow in 10 hours (in our topical zone) and produce 6-7 logs.
Yew trees grow in 4 hours and produce 2-4 logs.

In a 10 hour time period you can will get 24-28 logs for a small farm of Traveler's trees. In the same 10 hours you can grow two and a half small farms of Yew trees which will give you 20-40 logs, depending on your luck (my average has been closer to 3.5, so that's ~35 logs).

If you're going to be offline for more than a few hours, Traveler's will net you more logs in the long run. But for daily play when you're going to be able to head back to your farm - Yew is the way to go anyway.

It's also worth noting that Traveler's trees are slightly bigger than Yew trees, so they take up more of the space where you could be planting other small crops.

I haven't been able to get on lately, mainly due to my lack of patience concerning these queues. You guys can use my plot for whatever for right now. Even chop down whatever I had planted to make room for more active people's stuff.
