I became "That lady with the crazy child at the groce...
Today, for some reason my daughter decided to have the worst tantrum at the grocery store, because she wanted a bag of chips and sushi. She 'bout lost her mind!!!
Now I'm not the kind of parent who gives in, and let's their kids have whatever they want just to appease them and get by. That's bad parenting in my opinion. What's even worse is some guy came up to me and suggested I give her a cookie, just to make her happy. So when she heard that, even more she started to act out. Thank you random citizen....thank you for the brilliant advise, because apparently that's the right thing to do when a child starts wailing and throwing a fit in the store.
Then this young woman in line decides to throw me a dirty look, to which I just smiled at her. People like that are always the ones who don't know how it is with kids. Maybe they don't remember being children themselves, but the moment you as a parent gives in to a child who's throwing a tantrum, that's just taking five steps back. You're not fixing the main problem, you're fostering and encouraging it. She can cry all she wants, 'no means no.'
So I bought my stuff and left the store with my screaming child trailing after me, without a care of the stares and looks I recieved.
MAMA DON'T PLAY.
