Introduction thread for new ESO players

Sup ya'll. I'm another Jon, but I don't come with an 'h'. I work in IT, which has slowly whittled my hobbies down to working, video games and drinking.

So was talking to a friend today who had this error. Not sure if you returned the game or not, but what worked for him was disabling his firewall and antivirus when starting up the game and then just re-enabling when he was playing :3

well last night at about 2 am I was actually able to log in (after it patched) and start a character mage dark elf fugly woman with a Mohawk, black demon eyes and daedra looking with the whole red skeleton ensemble...pretty fucking evil bitch <3 It took me about 20 minutes to finish with the character creation lol, then I decided maybe I want to use Templar so I logged out to go back to character creation and it wanted me to log back in again...ever since then.....301 error *facepalm*

oh and I have 26 days left or so of my free 30 day of play left...I cancelled my subscription. lol

Update: interesting, while I was posting this I was running a repair...went to log in and voila, I got in. Since I was able to log in first after the patch last night, then now after running repair...I'm thinking now it has something to do with the actual log in process itself...kind of like the need to refresh a page I suppose. If this is the case, perhaps I will be able to play afterall. :ugeek:

Mentally I was kicking and screaming typing this lol...but guess what? You are most correct sir. I talked to the advanced IT team no less for my ISP Century Link and dude said I did way too much trying to fix the problem lol. So I had to go backwards...went back to dynamic IP, kept the ports open though, and uninstalled every program I did not need or no longer use. Including Zone Alarm...he said he would bet his money that is the problem...it is apparently notorious for causing problems blocking networks and connections. I did uninstall a lot of shit, then ran a cleaner just to make sure. Popped on TWO games, including ESO I have been having trouble with and BOTH started working immediately. Fucking zone alarm...he said all I needed anyway was AVG antivirus and windows firewall, as well as an antispyware/malware. So seems like you guys will be seeing me after all in ESO. I'm not sure what I'm doing in the game yet, just started my character and out of the tutorial...level 3 hahaha, so I'm not sure what I have to do to meet up or join the guild. I'll be on more tomorrow for sure since I don't work! Oh and I finally got a phone call from support at Bethesda ESO...his name was Precious. He was actually very nice but the Century Link dude did a LOT more to help me lol. He ran some support.me program and basically took control of my computer in front of my eyes...freaked me out a bit...a couple times I was about to scream NO>>>>don't go there!!! LOL...*cough* not that I have porn or anything...*cough* actually it's just some dark artwork that is a bit erotic xD but still...

So figured I'd finally do an introduction thing since I've been in Vindictive for a little bit now and was just too lazy to post an introduction. My name is Charlie but chuckles works since it's what i have on TS anyway. Someday I hope to make it to lvl 50 but I seem to have a tendency to run around exploring EVERYTHING...and then switch toons so I can do it again, which explains why my highest level character is only level 22 on ESO. Also after listening to people on TS talking about GW2 I decided to restart playing that a bit and suddenly I'm trying to play 2 game and oddly enough not getting much done in either one due to the whole run around exploring thing I seem to do (I get distracted by shiny things and unopened areas on my map far too easily) so anyway if you see me in either game feel free to tell me to stop running around like and idiot and get to work leveling. It MIGHT get me back on track for like 5 seconds
