Just released an expansion pack and the entire game, including the free expansion pack, is 75% off right now on Steam for just $6.24!
I'm definitely buying this no matter what. The discount is only good for another 20 hours so if you want it, buy it now.
For those of you who has never played the original Natural Selection, here's a quick breakdown:
- Marines vs Aliens. Both sides are human players. You pretty much join a server and pick if you want to be Aliens or Marines.
- Very similar to Starcraft except it's first person shooter. The human side can chose a commander who sits inside the commander chair. Once in, the commander's user interface takes on a top-down view and is able to give rally points to teammates as well as dropping structures (and your teammates have to actually go to that structure and build it themselves)
- The commander is in charge of allocating resources, either providing weapons/armor/jetpacks or for research and upgrades.
- Aliens are more independent and can morph into different lifeforms which then takes on specific roles. They can also build structures and hives which provides them with a plethora of upgrades and even more options to evolve into different lifeforms.
- It's practically like any other RTS games except first-person and instead of having the AI battle it out, you have actual players.
- I've only played the original but it seems like NS2 added things like mech-armors that marines can actually get inside of and operate...FUCKING SICK RIGHT??!
