Question on Champions

So I haven't really been looking at reviews, but it seems like everyone keeps talking about power/costume/nemisis customization as the highlights.  Other than having more areas than CoH, is there much to say on the actual content or play style?  If it's main attractions are customizabiblity, I would suspect that may get old pretty quickly.  Clay used to complain constantly about how dry and repetative CoH eventually got, so is CO likely to have the same effect? <div class="ContentBox" style="padding: 10px; font-weight: bold; margin: 10px; border-width: 2px;">This topic was moved from forum General Nonsense to forum Champions Online by Lord Tryden.

Well if it has a healthy PVP aspect to it I doubt it will get old to fast.  Sure, carebare PVE gets old pretty quickly but pvp is always fun.

Cant comment on it too much (especially in the public forums) but i will say that its really nothing new from coh gameplay.

I tried the pvp 1 time and it was buggy, I entered into a room with a circular cage ( other areas but small space)  the teams were messed up 3 to 1. if you wanted to quit the pvp you couldnt get out of the room none of the exits worked.  I think I just logged off the game to get out. havent tried it again.  I entered thru the canada area.  not sure if the same map is used in the city or desert area.

The way you "slot" powers and the way you chose which powers you want is completely different from CoH.  I'd say aside from the fact that it's a super-hero MMoRPG, it's a completely different game from CoH.  Except for maybe the names of some powersets, such as "Fire Breath" and etc...but the Fire Breath in CO is different too in that it's a continuous breath of fire until you stop it or run out of "endurance," at least that's what I get from reading the power descriptions.

SO far after playing it the last two nights, i'm not to impressed.&nbsp; The character Creator is ok, I've already sunk over 3 hours alone just fooling around in it.&nbsp; But if things dont start impressing me soon, I dont think i'll be picking this up, instead I'll go back to WoW or continue playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite until Monster Hunter 3 comes out for the Wii in March.

Send a PM to me tooo if you dun wanna say it on open forums

Champions has zones with stories going on in a linear fashion. You could goback to the prior zones, but there is no reason to. Once you're donewith it, you're done. No "Go back and drop this off and clean up thestreets".&nbsp; This also means level wise you're pretty segregated anddon't expect to see much of friends unless they're similar level.&nbsp; The stat system is really complex and somewhat confusing.&nbsp; Each statistic has different innate effects on your game play. The following isa NON COMPREHENSIVE, and NON FINAL list:

Strength: Knockback, Knockback Resistance, Picking stuff up, Throwing stuff.
Dexterity: Chance to crit, amount of damage avoided when you successfully dodge.
Constitution: Hit points, hit point recovery.
Intellect: Reduces the cost of all powers, Stealth detection, Pet DPS.
Ego: Crit Severity, Strength of hold effects, ability to free yourself from some holds.
Presence: Threat Scaling more in Offensive role, less in Defensive Role. Also, some stuff for buff powers and pet HP.
Recovery: Equilibrium, energy generated by your fighting attacks.
Endurance: Energy max, energy generated by your fighting attacks.

None of these stats will *directly* increase your damage(or, they won’t increase it ~much~, more later).

That’s where SUPER Stats come in.&nbsp; Over your career, you get to pick 2 stats to be “super”. These stats 1) automaticallygrow over time, and 2) are the stats that increase your damage.

How do you get stats?&nbsp; First, you start with some. Then, you pick an Origin. Each Origin gives you many happy chunky stats to start off your epic adventures.&nbsp; Finally, you get stats from Gear, and the aforementioned Superstats.

Seems like there's going to be a lot off shit that may be overwhelming at first.  I'm kind of worried about the level segregation part you were mentioning earlier, but other than that are the gameplay different from CoH?  Are the powersets different from CoH enough to be called its own game?<div>
</div><div>You must tell us moar what's wrong with the game!!  Only because I have high expectations for it =X</div>

Ahaha, no way, its a complete fucking clone with renamed powers.
Hell they even have invul and regen

Well, the game is still linear in a way but it's getting better.&nbsp; I'm still squishy as hell but the game is laggy and theres still quite a few bugs.&nbsp; The respec feature is retarded and i hate it.&nbsp; Currently they only allow to change the last 10 things.&nbsp; This includes travel powers, super stats, rankings of powers, etc.&nbsp; All of us fully believe this will get changed or else it locks you into powers to easily.&nbsp; The crafting system is kinda annoying and just adds fat to the game which i dont really want.&nbsp; It's a shotty attempt at WoW's professions.&nbsp; Dont know how it will be end game but right now dropped loot i get from quests and mobs are better than anything i can create atm for my lvl.&nbsp;

Combat can be fun but when you get held and have to mash a button, it feels retarded.&nbsp; Some attacks have a charge function meaning that the longer you hold it down, the greater it's ability, i.e., if you charge a melee attack, the greater it's damage is.&nbsp; I'm starting to see how important blocking is in this game, it can determine a fight pretty easily.&nbsp; Have not done any PVP yet.&nbsp; I've yet to find an actually healing power thats worth a damn also, I may try Regen for my next power.

Theres a power called energy block, and after you've let go of the block button, it continues to function as if you were blocking for several seconds, so if you have regen or something similar you can basically just tap the block button every several seconds and never die.

also that black hole power that sucks you in and you take a butt tonne of falling damage is so fucking annoying in the arena.

Man, i haven't really tinkered with the graphic settings, but this thing is poorly optimized.&nbsp; My system is way more than what this game recommends and i get about 30fps out in the middle of nowhere with low settings.

I was too.
I have an ATI Graphics card, i think Cryptic hate them...

I'm now officially not a fan of the cell shading.  Is it just there or not, or can you scale it down to be more subtle?
