The State of Benediction

Jeff and myself have been thinking hard over the past week or so, and as times change and people come and go (mostly go at this point) we have been feeling that there is no longer anything left in the game for us.

Since we started in Benediction many many months ago, we have enjoyed the relationships that have formed and the laughter created at certain times, many moments will never go forgotten, and several of you i consider to be amongst my best friends.
(Hell i'm coming to see you all in a few months)

It has been with much sadness, people on my global have left without saying goodbye, or even a care with what they leave behind.

As much fun as this game has been to Jeff and myself over the past several years, on my part, i am stepping down as officer and will now only be playing the occasional weekend, and on Jeff's part he has given his account to one of his dearest friends.

So as much fun as sitting on a chair jumping around PI in a game is. It is time to leave, to catch up with friends, stay healthy, make up lost time with the folks, maybe even read a book.

This is far from a goodbye, i just don't up and leave like some people, i am still in contact with forums and most of you have my email address.

I unfortunately have to agree with lanks in this regard. I feel that Benediction while being one of the most fun groups I have ever had the pleasure to play with has become very inactive on CoX. I am proud to have been part of the amazing base raids, task forces, and various other events that Benediction has held over the past months. I am also proud to have considered Benediction my home for this time in my life, but while home may be where the heart is it is difficult to keep your heart somewhere that has changed so greatly. Although, my reasoning for leaving the game is not entirely due to the changes in Benediction, there are countless real life reasons for my decision aswell. I would like to discuss some of my reasoning though, so that those who are wondering will understand.

Over the past few months I have watched as countless members of CoX have left for other MMO's such as: WoW, AoC, FFXI, and the various other assortment of online games. Hell, even Mike Chain is leaving the game! That's a sign of the apocalypse if I've ever seen one. My globals list has fallen from 90+ people being on at peek hours to maybe about 12 people in the matter of 3 months. Many of those friends have been Benediction people: Genma, Tryden, SPiNE, ViDa, Babe, Stomp, Steel, etc... It's basically just Lanks and myself now, and while I realize there's other people in the SG to interact with they're not the people I grew to enjoy.

I'm glad that you all have found a new game to enjoy, and do not hold any malice for that. At the same time though, I have to take my own happiness into account and realize when an era has come to an end and move on. Now as I stated before there are also real life reasons for this decision. Everytime I log into this game at this point I can feel my life wasting away piece by piece, because that's exactly what this game has become for me, a time sink. Every second I'm on this game I could be: learning, quitting smoking, getting into better shape, growing my company, or any other myriad of things. As you and I have spoken about before Tryden, it's time for me to move on to bigger and better things in real life.

As Lanks has already told you, I have given my account to my dear friend Foya and he will be Aemon Algiz from here on out. I have shed that persona, and am once again just merely Jeff Gordon. I am also obviously resigning my position as an officer of Benediciton. Now before I bid the game farewell, I would to thank the people who I have the grown to care about the most.

Genma, I love my countless battles with him and I will remember them to the day I die and have great respect for his determination. Tryden, you're a man who I have the deepest respect for; you're intelligent, capable, driven, and a masterful leader. SPiNE,  you're a man of integrity, confidence, and kidness thank you for your friendship. ViDa, I've never in my life met a person which so much individuality as you and hope you never change from the sweet person you are. Babe, you are a person who I would trust everything I own with and wouldn't think twice about it. Stomp, there is no greater man than you alive on this planet, and I mean that in more ways than one. Steel, please take care of ViDa.

This is not a goodbye to my friends, though. I want you all to stay in contact, and will also be contacting you.

That's completely cool, I understand, and things have been slower in both Vindictive and Benediction the last few weeks. Obviously Aemon, you and I have talked about this before, and I support both of you in your decisions. Life is a great thing. MMOs take you away from a lot of the best moments it has to offer.

But like you said Lanks, you have some great friends in the game - as do I. And that's what makes our online community so awesome - the people.

Also, I hope you guys weren't referring to me when you mentioned people not saying where they went. 

I was in the hospital the last five days - diabetic hypoglecemia again. I need to take better care of myself. So for not replying to your texts/e-mails, I apologize.

Take care you two, you'll be greatly missed. What I'll cherish most is the laughter. Mostly at Silit and FUSION for generally failing at life. I love you guys, and only hope for the best to each of you. We will definitely stay in touch.

Sorry to see you guys go, but I guess this my short two cents as well.

I've also have left the CoX and I've started playing another MMO, which is AoC&nbsp;and I think I've come to the realization that it might be time to put the virtual world on hold and get back to real world. Its been fun with you folks Benedicition/Vindictive base raids, group events and so on. I'm starting to feel the wrath of RL things. Like, loosing touch with my&nbsp;family/friends&nbsp;and work and this itsn't&nbsp;a good sign for me. I've had this happen before. I'm going to stay in touch on the forums, but I'm going to be scaling back my MMO life to give my RL for me "Brian Richardson" a chance again. Once again... I glad I met a good group of&nbsp;folks&nbsp;and thanks again for the fun.

And I think that's the core of why so many people keep in touch and post here even if they don't play any MMO. It's the people. I mean, 95% of the officers who originally joined the group (Hock, Ivy, Brainbot, Kegger, Genma, Dominion X, Stomp) all still keep in touch. What other SG in CoH can claim the same? Even after three years a lot of the same people are still here. It rocks.

Also, thanks to everyone who posted their contact info in the thread. It's good to know you guys will stay in touch, even if you won't be playing MMOs.

I am sorry to see you guys go and yes CoX has become very inactive but thats just because new games came out and got more exciting for some people. I have tried to bring new people to the sg and i have brought a few and their are still active players. You just have to get to know them. I am just one voice and you have the right to not listen but i hope you do when i say "i will miss you". Jeff you have helped me through a lot and have made me realize that their is more to life and i am one to say i am glad your finding your purpose in life and lanks even though i only teamed with you a few times you are my friend and i am sad to see you go also but if it is life you need to figure out i went their and i have faith you both will come back and i will wait for you to come back i will enjoy playing the game with you when you or (if you) decide to come back.
