Hello friends,
Now that we are not a dead guild anymore, we have needs. Financial needs. Our website hosting, Teamspeak server and Vimeo account are all coming up for renewal in September and October.
Not only that, but there is also going to be change. Aesthetic changes. We're going to move the website from phpbb to either Discourse (the hipster option) or Xenforo (a sleeker traditional forum).
If you have any change to spare, please help us out by donating. As always, all the money raised goes to the website and our hosting. I usually chip in $100-$200 of my own money every year. No amount is too small. You can donate by clicking the Paypal button on the front page, which links to our Paypal: http://vindictiveonline.com
Anyone who donates gets an orange forum name and added to the list of supporters: memberlist.php?mode=group&g=8
Now, let's get to what you'll be paying for when you donate.
Our website
A 12-time award-winning gaming forum where erudites gather to discuss the pressing political issues of our time
Our Teamspeak
A 50-slot Teamspeak with the option to expand to 100, which we'll probably need because everyone is returning for the #fuckboying
Our Vimeo account
Making dank videos isn't easy but at least Vimeo doesn't make it harder by blocking our copyrighted material
Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about our new forum software. As I said, it's come down to two choices.
Discourse
A forum software created in 2013 that breaks with the traditional threaded forum structure of platforms like phpbb. Hipsters love it, but it's probably very different from what you're used to. Examples: http://try.discourse.org/ https://talk.turtlerockstudios.com/ http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/
Xenforo
This was the original platform we were going to move to when we left Guildportal in 2013. But costs to switch from Guildportal to phpbb to Xenforo were high, because we needed to hire someone to move us in the first place. So we opted not to do it. It's basically a sleeker version of this forum with more features. Example: https://xenforo.com/ http://www.xenfocus.com/skins/aperture/index.php
