Hey everyone,

I've put together this quick guide outlining the rules and policies of Vindictive for our new members and old members alike, the latter of which have indirectly helped craft this over the years.

For our new members, here's a little background on the community you're now a part of: we're a guild/supergroup/legion/clan/whateveryouwanttocallus that's over 100 members strong and that's been together for the better part of four years. During that time we've always become amongst the most respected guilds on our respective servers, and we're aiming for the same thing with Aion. But to do that it's going to require commitment from everyone.

Below is an outline of the rules and policies we have in place to make sure everyone knows how the legion works, and what's expected of them. This charter is open to feedback from all members in the legion. After all, we're here to play a game, not work a job. If you feel anything is unfair or needs to be reworked feel free to speak up. Sure, we aim to win, but that isn't worth anything unless everyone's having fun.

So without further adieu, here’s a section-by-section breakdown of Vindictive's Aion Charter.

--------------------------

Table of contents:

1. 11. Commitment

--------------------------

1. Goals

 • Vindictive is aiming to be among the best and most well respected PvP legions on the server, much the same way as we were elite PvP groups in CoH and Warhammer.
 • We want to be an end-game legion that is able to run high level dungeons regularly and help get our members geared up.
 • Players should feel they’re part of a community and helping that community to grow, which means playing to achieve our mutual goals rather than selfishly working to accomplish your own.

2. Promotions

Ranks are currently structured as follow:

 • Brigade General: Leader, implements the decisions the legion makes, guides Vindictive's progression and is responsible for overall oversight in the group.
 • Centurion: Basically an officer in the group, this person helps the leader run the legion by leading dungeon runs, forming PvP groups, taking on a leadership role when the Brigade General is offline, and recruiting.
 • Legionary: A member of Vindictive.

With promotions, we want to reward members who have clearly helped the legion progress – by being a leader in PvP, helping to organize dungeon runs or just generally proving themselves to be helpful. Simply put, promotions will be given to dedicated, skilled and knowledgeable players.

3. Leadership

The leadership structure Vindictive has employed has always been to make officers the core of the group. These are the people who help steer the ship. Because of that we want to make the leaders and officers accessible. People should know who they are without having to look for them.

Among other things officers will be expected to do is to:

 • help other members when needed
 • contribute to the guild bank
 • help committed players get gear
 • provide leadership in PvP

As usual, instead of assigning roles, Vindictive encourages officers to find their niche to help the legion. So if you like crafting, then feel free to focus on that, and as a result, we’ll have someone who can provide other members with materials and advice. Same thing if you like PvP – you can focus on that, and in the process, lead PvP groups or provide advice to other members about PvP.

4. PvP

One thing should be made clear: we’re a PvP group and have been so since the beginning. We’re aiming to be one of the top PvP legions on the server.

As such, we’ll be doing the following:

 • running dungeon and grinding for gear will take place regularly to make sure we’re geared up for PvP
 • all members should be encouraged to download vent and sign up to Twitter. The former is our MANDATORY means of communication for PvP. The latter will keep members informed of when we need back-up in PvP, and other events happening in the legion.

5. Legion bank

Ash currently handles the banking details. We sell whatever overstock items we have and put them back in the bank as Kinah, so encourage members to send what they can. That being said Ash has a lot of work to do with this so make sure to send reasonably valuable items and not common items like low level manastones.

6. Vindictive's website

Our website is one of the core elements which we structure our community around. We have one of Guildportal’s most active forums and try and promote the website even to non-members whenever we can.

A few things to keep in mind about Aion and the website:

 • signing up to the website is mandatory
 • all members should use the forums to check out latest events and save spots for dungeon runs via the calendar
 • voting on crucial legion decisions takes place on the website
7. Ventrilo

Using Ventrilo is central to being an active member of Vindictive. You are REQUIRED to have this and be able to listen. That doesn't mean you have to have a mic and speak, though this is strongly preferred. All dungeon runs and PvP groups are coordinated through vent. Make sure you have it downloaded by going here.

We use tags to help designate the different ranks of members, and to make sure you can move around if we lock down the server during a vent server raid. You usually get your [Vind] tag after a couple of weeks of being in the legion and we get to know you. Leaders have the [GM] tag, while Stomp has the [VentAdmin] tag.

The server info is:

 • Host IP: ventrilo1.ecgnetwork.com
 • Port: 3875
 • Password: stomp

8. Coordinating outside the game

There are several websites and programs that we use to give us a leg up over the competition. This includes having a Twitter account, which allows members to get text alerts if back-up is needed in PvP or there's a dungeon run happening. We also have Xfire. This allows memebrs to use an IM service to contact each other instantly, since we are a multi-game guild. Xfire and Twitter are not required, but are strongly encouraged.

For our Xfire page, go here:

http://www.xfire.com/communities/benediction/

For our Twitter page, head to:

http://twitter.com/Vindictiveguild

9. Alt characters

Because we’re dealing with a game where there is a limit on how many characters we can have in the legion, we have an alt policy in place. As of now, each member with a main toon over level 10 can have one alt. No exceptions. This might change as we approach the cap for members. However, we’re encouraging members to focus on one character to gear up for end-game content faster.

We do have an alt legion called Vindictive Reborn. If you want to put any rarely played alts in there, contact Renek in game.

10. Dungeon runs

 • will happen weekly. These will be organized by officers, as well as members interested in leading dungeon runs
 • players who contribute regularly to Vindictive will be at the front of the line to get in on dungeon runs
 • however goal will be to get as many people as possible gear by running multiple teams
 • any member who gets a drop in a dungeon that another member needs, YOU MUST give it to them. Anyone who doesn't follow this rule will be /gkicked

11. Commitment

 • Vindictive is a legion that values loyalty, if you want to be part of multiple guilds look elsewhere
 • there’s no set hours you have to put in every week. But if you’re logging in once a week and playing for a couple of hours, and we’re tight on room, unfortunately because of player caps on legion membership you’ll probably be asked to put your toon in the alt legion

 • Let any of the officers know if you will be gone for extended periods of time. There is a 15-day inactive rule where your toon gets removed if you're gone that long without notifying anyone. You're welcome to rejoin however when you come back. Officers will email you if you're removed from the legion this way

 • promotions work on commitment to the legion

That's not true Mal. You log in twice a week after all

Hmm why have instant messages or twitter? If I'm not in game, usually means I don't want to be playing or can't play atm? Only other thing I can think of is alts, but that's what's vent is for. Other than that, I like everything

Xfire is not just an instant messenger ........... It also logs game time the more time the higher we get in ranking which means the more people will see our legion name which means awsome legion'ness

also twitter is a good way to see if anything is going on like a big planned run or any other events.
