Who is playing DayZ?

Wanting to get a head count before I buy the game. Played it when it was in Arma2 but wanted to see who had it already or is thinking about buying it.

I'm down, but probably won't get to play a lot till February. Hoping the game is at least in beta or released by then

I have this. So far the big changes are in the inventory...

Tab to get into it, start with only 4 inventory slots you can gain more by changing clothes i.e. Cargo pants give you 6 more inventory slots, hoodie sweatshirts give you 4, then there are tactical vests and backpacks to give you more than that. If you cant seem to target that item, just tab and there is a "Vicinity" section that you can click and drag it to your inventory.

Possibility of eating rotten food, getting sick and dying. Food and water is very hard to come by, died of dehydration/starvation twice last night. Rumors of getting sick from well water as well, may have to boil it first. Rumor also that soda relieves some thirst but may worsen dehydration which may be a hidden stat. Food and water also last through more than one use based on a percentage. i.e. you open a can of sardines and have 100% first bite takes it to 75%, then second bite to 50% and so on. Not sure if each bite relieves hunger or if you still need the whole can.

Very few zombies right now, literally ran full speed through Cherno and had may 5 zombies on me.

About 99% of buildings can be entered now, which I love. In the hours I have played I have come across one rifle and no ammo. Seems much harder to find.

Altogether I enjoyed the play, it still has a lot of work but it is DayZ. It took me about 45 minutes to get use to controls and figure out a few things but most controls are still the same. Let me know if you guys play it, I will jump on with you.

Also Steam makes joining someones server easy if they are on your friends list, just "join game" and it takes you to their server... you still have to find each other though.

This makes it sound really cool. Thanks for the write up, Zeph

I'm totally down to play even more now. But yeah, still can't actively play till February

Zeph is pretty spot on with everything he said. Finding something to drink and correct ammo for gun has been the hardest part so far.
I've been playing on not very populated servers so far, so I can learn the ropes without running into someone too often. Still I've run into a couple people and it was pretty intense. Both turned out to be cool. First one put me in restraints but didn't rob me. He said I should be able to get out by trying to move. Didn't work (maybe glitched), I had to relog to get them off.
If you go unconscious, I think you are pretty much dead. I've gone unconscious 3 times now and it just goes to a black screen. If you relog you start on a new character.
The game is fun though. Super intense at times. Im always thinking im hearing noises like something is sneaking up on me.

Night time is crazy dark. When I started the game for the first time, it was night. Not looking forward to having to go through that again lol.

Anyway, I recommend it. Its only going to get better being that it is alpha still.

I have DayZ now too. Don't know a lot about it, though. Is there a way we can all play together? Is it a single server or multiple servers? Is Genma going to rob me?

We can play together but grouping is not set up yet. We would just follow each other around. If we can find each other. That's not so easy. Big ass map.

I found the easiest way of getting together to be joining someones game on Steam(right click their name and select Join Game), it takes you right to their server.

For the Map I use http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus#4.072.117. Best map I have found, it is accurate. I have it running on my tablet while playing, otherwise I just alt+tab to it. DayZ standalone does not state your location when you first log in like the Arma 2 mod did. So what I always do since you always start a new character on the shore, is I would run along the shore with the water on my left and have my buddy run with the shore on his right... 90% of the time this worked. I would also try to find a sign by a town if I came across one so I could see where I was on the map. They are in Russian though, you just need to be able to match the writing... unless you know Russian^^.

I am excited, I usually play on Friday or Saturday night.

Edit: Also, what I would do too was always play a female. Since the game does not have any identifiers(names above heads) I would know that any male characters were not in my group and shoot them... it made the enemies easily detectable... until more people started playing female characters.

Save me Aemon :(

Fuck. So we've gotten into quite a few fire fights in the past week. I've learned some lessons for anyone looting in a city that might be filled with other players.

1. Have your gun out and shouldered at all times.
2. Close doors behind you when you loot. That way you don't give away that someone is in the building.
3. Fire and move. Don't shoot multiple times from the same position, you will get killed.
3. If you're in a group, memorize your team-mates' appearance. Tell people on TS when you've changed your appearance.
4. If you kill someone, WAIT IN AMBUSH. Chances are they might have friends. Those friends will come looking for you. Wait to loot the body and get to a vantage point where you can watch it.
5. Finally: kill first and ask questions later.

Oh and here's a nice photo of me doing a blood transfusion for an unconscious Dragon after he accidentally drank disinfectant. Thanks to Jimmy for being a donor. Sadly, Jimmy was shot in the head later that night by someone camping my body. RIP.

So I got a coupon from multiplaygameservers.comm that gives me 30% off any of their products. These are the guys I got my starbound server with and I've been really pleased with their service.

I know a few people expressed interest in vindictive getting a DayZ server, this would cost $64.30/month for a 40 slot server.

Is anybody still interested? If so, I'd be willing to contribute $10/month of that
