RE: VOTE ON GUILD TAX: Possible increase from 5% to 30%
While i'm way late on this issue.. if things haven't already been decided id like to put in my .02 I am also going to leave the caveat that I may not be as knowledgeable as the rest of you on all this, so forgive me if I have some facts or ideas on shaky ground.
I agree taxes need to go up, hands down. Though I think a step increase process should be implemented. I've already seen it increase from 5 to 10 or 15% which is good. It allows adjustment time, thats for sure.
The only other thing I have is what about new players? While the guild will center around a strong core of players who should be sticking around through thick and thin, we only get better as a guild by bolstering our ranks, and letting the people work out to a level of significance or leave on their own.
With anyone "new" who isn't totally used to the idea of a very high tax rate, they may instantly be dissuaded from joining, or just quit on the spot. While the argument of "Then they just don't have what it take's" will be the first thought for some, I wouldn't do anything that discourages people from joining from the start. At least nothing as simple at a 50% Tax Rate. I know I myself, who fully intends to be as much a contributive member as possible on all levels asked/required/through positive initiative taken, to this guild, would have probably backed out seeing such a high tax rate.
Furthermore, it takes about 25 SP, at least in T3, to travel from RVR zone to RVR zone. With looting rules being what they are, combined with a High Tax rate and wealth and items being distrubited across several players for every drop.. players may run out of money to be able to travel from location to location.
Also, is the tax rate simply guild wide? Or can you set a tax rate beased on level and/or Tier? I only ask because any players, if we are recruiting from that range, in T2 or even T1 take the biggest hit from the high tax rate. If however we are only trying to maintain a strong T3 and T4 then that issue is mitigated faily well. But my previously mentioned travel costs still stands, IMO. I know those travel costs broke me from 40 gold to 22 gold in the course of a week when including having to purchase siege equipment etc.
