Hey sexual roleplayers of Vindictive,

I made a donations button on the front page of Vindictive's website. As many of you know, I've been paying for our 100-slot vent server and our website for the past few years. Before me, Stomp paid for both himself. We've never asked for donations because WE DON'T NEED YOUR STINKING MONEY.

However, I've been increasingly talking with people about hosting the forums ourselves and taking the website off of GuildPortal. There's been a lot of complaints about the service. We've been with GP for eight years, but the owner isn't putting money into the site and I think we can all safely say it's hard to trust the reliability of this thing anymore.

Anyway, instead of going with a new guild host, a few of us thought it's about time Vindictive buy its own domain and host our forums ourselves, without a third-party provider. That's going to cost money, so any help you can provide would be mucho appreciated. The donate button on the frontpage connects straight to my Paypal account. I'm not looking for large donations. A few bucks here and there will go a long way.

Whatever I get in the way of donations, I will use 100% of it toward things for Vindictive. I'll post screenshots of my Paypal account and the amount of donations when we start building the new website.

Sidenote: If anyone does website design or knows anything about it, I could use some consultation. Everything is in the early stages right now. I don't have a timeframe for when the new site will go live, but in the meantime, the bills for our current website and vent server are automatically charged to my Paypal account, so any donations you make will help pay for those while we figure out how to design the new site.

I don't really know too much about website development, but have you looked into Wordpress? There are a lot of free plugins there that should help drive down costs. My two cents, anyway.

I did a whois lookup on the domain vindictive.com and it is currently registered already, with probably no chance of it getting released since it has been locked since 1999. Meaning someone has it and is sitting on it since there is nothing at vindictive.com.

If you wanted to give everyone a real kick to the pills, Vindictive.ca is available.

I was looking at Wordpress as one of the options. I haven't looked into how good the forum plugins are, but we could always have like vbulletin or phpBB forums hosted separately and then a Wordpress front page so it looks fancy. I'm still trying to find what the best balance between affordable and practical is.

For me, it's not about what I remember, but what I learn. I'm picking up web design for a task at work so I decided it'd be good to start learning html5. Thing is, it's just one thing of many that I have on my plate so I don't know how quick my knowledge will progress or if I will be useful to help out with vindictive's site. If I do feel that I can contribute, I totally will .
