Redesigning the website

So I've sat down and looked over the current website and what we need to change. It's going to be pretty exhaustive - but our main focus is in WAR right now, and I personally, don't see us going back to City of Heroes anytime soon.

With that being said, to switch the site from CoH to WAR is going to be kind of complicated. First, Guildportal doesn't let a "guild" belong to multiple games. I already sent an email asking if this can be changed. But while that's resolved, if I changed the site to Warhammer Online our roster will no longer show CoH characters. THey won't get deleted, you'll still have all your info. The characters just won't show up unless we switch back to CoH or Guildportal changes that.

Secondly, graphics and artwork. I'm working on my own banner designs right now. I know Genma and Niteforce are our graphics guys, but I'm not sure whether they're on break right now or still playing. I was wondering whether anyone who's good with photoshop would like to help me with the site redesign. Whatever name you want to go by will be displayed at the bottom of the site if you contribute your artwork.

Finally, I want to ask everyone playing WAR who's on the forums to encoruage new members to sign up to the site. The more we get on here the more people will realize we've been around for a while and we're not some small startup that's going to vanish a few months from now. Also it helps foster our awesome spirit of community.

Now this thread will be feedback for what you want to see changed on the site, or just general tips on art direction. Remember we have a Destro and Order guild, and some of our members still play CoH, so I'm looking to strike a balance.

I have some knowledge of photoshop and wouldn't mind pitching in. I'll throw out there that I'm not up to par with Genma or Nightforce, but I'll give it a try if you want.

Today, I was just thinking of how successful the switch to WAR compared to previous games, and was curious to know, about, how many people still actively play CoH/V. 
 
Ya that's good I'll try to encourage new members to get on the website. I think we need to get some guild exclusive events going for screenshot-aholics like myself. Be that PQs or Keep Captures or Dungeons I would love to get some screenshots of a bunch of guildees rocking this game the way I know Vindictive is capable of. Our Gunbad runs scheduled for this weekend fell through and I'm a little disappointed in that. Obviously we have to wait for Tryden for hit 25 before we move on.
 
<p>Just a suggestion that&nbsp;would be good or bad. I think looking for another web hosting site would be last alternative but a good Idea.&nbsp;Maybe just&nbsp;revamping the existing stuff would get more complicated&nbsp;with Warhammer theme&nbsp;and the&nbsp;War content.&nbsp;

Maybe&nbsp;we&nbsp;could just focus on just a gaming group theme (Vindictive) and nothing specific to any game like CoX, War,&nbsp;WoW & AoC. We can create sub-links like we've got now that identifies what we play. I've seen this from previous FPS groups&nbsp;I've&nbsp;gamed with in the past.&nbsp;

For example,&nbsp;the group logo can have&nbsp;our name and&nbsp;around the logo the names of the&nbsp;current games listed around the logo. Just an idea, so&nbsp;if we won't have&nbsp;to change from one content theme to the next. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>My photoshop skills need to be dusted off. I could get my PS7 CD out and installed and run some banner concepts. My buddy at work has played around with it and has done a few gaming sites. I could ask him. </p>
 
We've talked about hosting on another site - Aemon offered that but I have no idear if he ever followed up on it.

I think we'll stick with Guildportal for now. Because there's so many threads that are pretty darn awesome I want to make sure we can take our forum history with us if we do move.

Also, if you guys put together any concept banners or have ideas throw them my way and we can talk.

The offer still stands, but if you remember there was no way to transplant the forums' posts from this site to another, so it would serve little to no purpose.

I went ahead and made some buttons and logo real fast. not the best but i was bored. let me know what you think.

Hey Spitfire, that's pretty sweet.

I think if we made the Vindictive lettering bigger and got rid of the icons on the sides it'd work even better
 
Works for me, like I said eariler it literally took me about 10 mins. I can change whatever you like or make a completely different one. your call.
 
Wow, sweet banner Spitfire - looks much better without the icons. And Lanks did you make that wallpaper yourself? That looks fucking awesome.

Also Spitfire, did the right side of the banner get cut off? Looks like there's more space there then left side and also the white border is missing
 
I watched as she was putting this together and it's friggin AWESOME in my oppinion!

Also, so one doesn't have to have thier browser always running the full animation, Hanna can provide just the last frame for every part of the site.&nbsp; Thusly, the animation will run on Home but just the last frame on every other page.
