Just got my first real crash. I way over prepared. I can't stop playing long enough to even read this thread. igns frooz, froo, fooz. Made a guild, don't know how to invite. MUST GO BACK TO GAME.

I went Nord >_>

Btw guys it's easier to just post your UserID instead of character names if you're looking to add friends. Mine is @Sammy333

Well, ESO beta has come and gone. How does everyone feel about it? Excellent? Terrible?

I want to hear your thoughts ^__^

Action MMO sums it up. I pretty much only got to level 2 before i got bored. Maybe it was just sorcerer, but combat seemOed slowish (also could be from the lack of abilities) If i get in for another weekend i'll try a melee class. Overall it seems very similar to Skyrim (which isn''t bad, but then again i never even finished the main story before i stopped playing). I'll give it another try, lets just hope i care more next time.

alright.I'm hungover as balls and I feel like 5 miles of bad road right now. This is clearly the best time to review a game.

Graphics were pretty good. I turned em down because they were choppy as shit on my outdated machine. On the two lowest settings the people were blurry and shit popped up weird when you walked around.

story was fairly compelling, and interesting even without the added hilarity of accented computer voices. Which was pretty hilarious. The real voices they did have done already though were good.

Didn't do pvp.

abilities system was cool. It was like skyrim light, but you got to pick if you wanted to invest in your racial traits too.

I didn't like the weapons. lightning staff was buggy and kept running out of charge. Why the fuck do I have to charge my staff? Does it play mp3s too? fucking shit.

I saw someone say that it was like a single player game that happened to have other people running around and shit. I feel like that sums it up pretty well.

guild system confused me until they fixed that shit. Then it was cool, I guess.

I liked it. I didn't get to play as much as I wanted though.

My dog tore up my god damned mini blinds again. THOSE ARE $50 BLINDS, ASSHOLE.

I honestly did not enjoy my time in ESO. Maybe because I didn't pay any attention to the story or because I didn't spend enough time in it. It felt clunky and generic. It was a poor man's Skyrim and all it made me want to do was play the real thing (which I did).

its good to hear that you found the story compelling, Frooz. thats one of the key things I'm hoping for with this game.

when GW2 talked about their personal stories I was really excited - but I honestly found them to be cheesy and with only limited & superficial choices. that aspect of GW2 was probably the thing that disappointed me most.

from ESO I'm hoping for an MMO I can sink myself into on an emotional level

Part of me wanted to keep playing but I'm pretty sure that was just the same part of me that's been desperate for something new to play.

Pros:
Graphics- They were pretty nice and they'll only get better consider all the graphics currently in beta are placeholders.
Combat- I like combat that isn't your standard WoW-type combat that's just "target mob, mash buttons on target, repeat."
Quests- They have a good start with their questing system. It's definitely more immersive(is that even a word) than your typical MMO quests. The way they did character phasing is pretty great but still buggy when questing in a group.

Cons:
Combat- It's a good start but it leaves a lot to be desired. It was clunky and sometimes unresponsive. There are other games with similar combat that have made the transition between attacking, blocking, dodging, and using skills much more fluid. This was kind of disappointing.
Character Models- I wasn't too happy with the models. They looked super old school and didn't have a lot of diversity within each race. The character creation was pretty lacking but I'm pretty biased; I'm a sucked for good character creation and I have high standards now.
Classes and Skills- Their system has potential but I ended up being slightly disappointed. I COULD be wrong about this opinion and maybe there's more skills later on in the game that are available, but I felt limited even with the 4 classes and 3 trees. That is because, even with the racial, weapons, and other skill trees, you can't blend them as much as you'd like. There will always be a "best" route and when you only give us 6 slots, it doesn't work so well with the "pick anything you want!" idea. Your ability bar will be so limited that you'll only pick one sort of specialization and everything else is unnecessary (because of the way passives work). I also didn't like their synergy system. It was a big let down. I thought it would be closer to GW2 where you can pick which skill to use with another player's "combo starter" ability. In TESO, synergy abilities mean one person uses a synergy ability, and other people run up and hit X to interact with it with a predetermined animation and attack.
Quests- Even though they were better than typical MMO quests, they still felt kind of lame sometimes. Half of the time the quests were cool but only because of what I SAW not because of what I read/heard and I didn't get into the dialogue or story much. A lot of the quests I just stopped caring and sped through the dialogue.
